Cupcakes of HOPE, a non-profit company that aims to raise awareness and funds for families in need of medical assistance, is spreading the love through their love of cupcakes. You too can get involved by baking your own Cupcakes of Hope and donating them to the organisation.
In 2011, Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer set a new world record for the most cupcakes on display – a phenomenal 21 000. Through this achievement, they were able to raise R200 000. This year, they’re asking for your help to make a difference, one cupcake at a time.
How it works:
– You and your fellow cupcake lovers get together and bake a batch of delicious cupcakes. You take these love-filled cupcake creations to your nearest participating mall and donate them to Cupcakes of Hope, which will then sell them to raise funds for children with cancer. You can also sell them yourself and donate the money to the organisation.
For schools, this is a fun way to enjoy cupcakes and make a difference. Once they register to host their own Party of Hope, they will be sent the following: leaflets with the early cancer warning signs; badges for the kids to wear on the day; and cupcake baking cups with the Cupcakes of Hope logo on them. Some of the schools already registered have had some great ideas, for example, older scholars can bake and decorate cupcakes, and these are then sold during break for R5 or R10 each. Nursery schools can host a cupcake decorating class, where each child gets an un-iced cupcake and they can then decorate it with icing and different toppings (smarties, jelly tots, little chocolate hearts, etc.)
Businesses too can get involved by making the event a team-building exercise. Companies can use this event as a team building project and challenge the different departments to a bake-off. Some companies host a cupcake and tea party for their staff. There is no right or wrong way of hosting the event, whatever works in your environment will be perfect!
