Guard and robber shot dead during robbery
A SBV service guard and a robber were both killed during a shoot-out at Ga-Rankuwa mall.

A security guard and a robber were killed in a cash-in-transit heist at the Ga-Rankuwa City shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi said the SBV service guard and a robber died after they exchanged fire.
“Two SBV service guards were coming out of the Ga-Rankuwa mall with one carrying a rifle and cash when they were approached by five suspects.”
Nkoadi said two of the five men pulled firearms and fired shots at the guards.
The guards retaliated and a shootout ensued.
The guard and the robber were both hit in the head, Nkoadi said.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said paramedics found two men lying on the ground with life-threatening wounds.
“Both men died on the scene due to the extensive injuries that they sustained,” he said.
The other robbers fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash as the second guard called for help.
Police were investigating, said Nkoadi.
