Wall-jumping thief cornered
A man was caught and another is being sought as two security companies worked hand in hand to curb crime in Elardus Park on Monday.

A self-confessed thief was arrested by two security companies in Elardus Park on Monday.
The culprit and an accomplice were jumping over walls from yard to yard of houses in the area.
Bulls Security and Hi Risk Unit received numerous calls from residents complaining about this and responded promptly.
Hi Risk unit operations director Arthur Crewe said: “We did a search in every property from where we had received calls. The suspect saw us and started jumping walls again.”
He said the man was caught by at 12:30 and by 12:45 he was already in the custody of the Lyttelton police, who he applauded for their efficiency.
The accomplice was still on the run.
The arrested man admitted that he was stealing for a living and had broken into the homes of residents to take valuables, Crewe said.
Bulls Security reaction manager Jared Austin commended Hi Risk for their joint effort in nabbing the culprit.
“Residents should be vigilant and should not hesitate to contact the company for assistance should they feel endangered.”
Lyttelton police spokesperson Warrant Officer Hero Gumbu confirmed the arrest.
“The suspect was caught with stolen shoes worth R1 500 and is to be charged with housebreaking and theft. We are also searching for his friend who ran away.”
