Man dies after Garsfontein shooting

One person was injured and another killed in an apparent assassination attempt on Friday afternoon. Police are yet to catch the shooters.

An anonymous spokesperson for Orgazma Energy Drink confirmed to Rekord that the man who was critically wounded in the Garsfontein shooting has passed away.

He died just after 20:00 in hospital.

The two people who were shot were employees of the energy drink company Orgazma.

The Brooklyn police are still on the hunt for the killers.

Sergeant Asnath Melatsi, spokesperson for the Brooklyn police, said they were yet to arrest someone in connection with the shooting.

“This is so unfortunate. We are extremely saddened by the death of one of our employees. We hope the shooters are caught,” the spokesperson said.

The motive for the shooting is not yet known.

The two were shot on the N1 northbound at the Garsfontein Road offramp on Friday afternoon.

Directorate of Specialised Security spokesperson, Brandon Morgan, said a BMW M3 stopped next to a branded, yellow Renault Clio RS when a man jumped out and fired multiple shots through the left side of the car.

Morgan said he counted 15 bullet holes from the left side of the car.
