Another Pep store robbed by suspects in a white Toyota Avanza
The Pep store in Wierda Square shopping centre was robbed by four armed men on Saturday morning.
Hannes du Buisson, spokesperson for Centurion Concerned Citizens (CCC), said the four men entered the store around 11:00 and held the staff and customers hostage.
They forced all of them into a storeroom before stealing the store’s cellphone stock.
“The four men then escaped with the cellphones. They didn’t take any of the customers’ belongings,” said Du Buisson.
The suspects fled in a white Toyota Avanza with the numberplate BVZ 309 GP.
It is suspected that the number plate has been falsified. The Avanza has tinted windows and the driver’s side window is broken.
Along with the CCC operators, the security companies Monitor Net, Copwatch and Orange Fox all responded to the scene.
Du Busisson said the Avanza is suspected to be the same one used to rob another Pep store at the Blue Valley Mall in The Reeds on 9 September 2015.
