A 23-year-old woman was found dead at Block HH in Soshanguve on Sunday morning.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said she was shot in the head, in the street in Block HH, a few minutes after midnight on Sunday.
“The woman’s body was found covered with a blanket by an eyewitness when police arrived at the scene,” said Mangena.
The witness told police two men shot the woman and ran away.
“The motive of the killing is not known since nothing was taken from her.”
Mangena said a murder docket had been opened.
“We appeal to anyone with information to assist the police.”
In another crime at the weekend, a woman narrowly escaped death when two men tried to hijack her on Saturday morning.
Mangena said the woman had parked in front of her friend’s house in Block BB waiting for her friend’s mother to bring a key.
“While she was waiting in the car, two men knocked on her car window. They then fired a shot through her window,” he said.
“Luckily, she managed to start the car after the shot and sped off,” said Mangena.
The men ran away.
