Man’s body found in Pretoria West
Police need assistance to solve the alleged murder of a 35-year-old man.
Police are urging the public to come forward with any information about a man whose body was discovered on Wednesday.
The body of a 35-year-old man was discovered by the public at the corner of Zeiler and Frederik streets in Pretoria West.
Police provincial spokesperson Captain Tshekiso Mofokeng said the body was found by members of the public who then alerted the police.
“When police got to the scene they found the man’s body laying in the street with an open wound to the head,” he said.
“He was then certified dead at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the government mortuary.”
Mofokeng said police were investigating a case of murder.
“We are asking the community to please call our crime line number on 08600 10111 or SMS us on 32211 if they have any information about the murder,” said Mofokeng.
A source who wished to remain anonymous said he blamed the illegal taverns in the area for the crime.
He speculated that the man was killed during a robbery after a drinking binge at one of the taverns.
“We are tired of all this crimes in our area. There are a lot of taverns and you should hear the noise people make when they come back from there,” he said.
“Police need to close down these taverns and patrol the area more regularly to prevent more dead bodies being found and people getting robbed.”
A few weeks ago, the naked body of a man was discovered near a stream in Pretoria West.
