Alleged robber loses finger in dog attack
A man lost his finger when he was bitten by a dog after he was found trespassing at The Reeds in Centurion on Friday morning.

A man lost his finger when he was bitten by a Pitbull Terrier on Friday morning, at The Reeds in Centurion after he startled the dog in an attempted robbery.
OrangeFox security spokesperson Vanessa Jacobs said the man, aged 30, jumped over a palisade into a house in The Reeds around 05:00.
Jacobs said the man was surprised by the home owner’s dog.
“He tried to jump back over the fence but the dog got hold of his leg and vigorously attacked the man, causing extensive lacerations and a puncture wound to the man’s lower leg,” said Jacobs
She said the homeowner managed to restrain and remove the dog but the man’s finger had already been bitten off.
While the homeowner was busy with the dog, the man then jumped over fence but got caught in some jagged edges of the fence and sustained further injuries to his private parts.
Jacobs said guards from local security companies, Orangefox, Copwatch and Monitor.Net responded to the homeowner’s distress call, and Ruan Heyns of OrangeFox treated the man’s wounds on the scene.
Jacobs said Wierdabrug police arrested the man and took him to hospital.
The police could not be reached for comment at time of going to print.
