Dad kills dogs after attack on child
Man shot dead two Boerboels after they attacked his child at his in-laws.
A man who shot dead two Boerboels on Saturday in Pretoria Gardens would not be charged by the Tshwane SPCA.
Spokesperson Korky Levanon said the dogs died instantly and did not suffer. Therefore, the SPCA would not be laying charges against the shooter.
“Until there is any information that proves the dogs suffered and did not die immediately, we cannot lay charges,” she said.
Hendrico Fourie (34) appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday in connection with the shooting, said police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango.
“The man was arrested on Saturday on charges of discharging a firearm and malicious damage to property.”
Fourie went with his family to visit his parents-in-law in Pretoria Gardens.
“While still visiting the family, the two Boerboels apparently attacked Fourie’s child. The child was not badly hurt, but had to be taken in for treatment,” Msimango said.
He said Fourie then took a gun and killed the two dogs.
Fourie’s father-in-law called the police after the shooting.
It was not immediately clear when Fourie would be back in court.
