A man was shot in the hip after he fought off two hijackers in Soshanguve on Saturday, police said on Monday.
Spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said two men tried to hijack a Rustenburg pastor in Block GG but he fought back.
“A man was inside his car when two men appeared and forced themselves in. One suspect pointed a firearm at him and ordered him out.
Mangena said the victim managed to grab the gun and a tussle ensured.
“During the tussle, the suspects managed to get out of the car before one fired a shot at the victim. The two fled the scene on foot,” he said.
The pastor was taken to hospital for the hip injury.
“A case of attempted robbery was opened at the Soshanguve police station. The pastor is currently recovering in hospital,” he said.
