NATIONAL NEWS: Gang drowns two men and rapes woman
Police have launched a hunt for 12 men after a woman was raped and two men were drowned in Johannesburg.
Twelve men raped a woman and drowned two men at Rhodes Park in Kensington, Johannesburg, on Saturday night.
The bodies of the two men, aged 25 and 32, were recovered by police divers after they were thrown into the dam by the gang around 19:00, police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said.
“Apparently two men and their wives , aged 28 and 29, were walking in the park when they were confronted by a group of about twelve suspects. It is alleged that one of the suspects was armed with a handgun,” he said.
He said the gang tied up the men and threw them into the dam in the park.
“One of the wives was raped and the other woman managed to escape. Police were called to the scene but the suspects had already fled.”
Police divers retrieved the bodies of both men who were declared dead by paramedics, Dlamini said.
No arrests were made
“Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
