
Police arrested 126 people in a crime prevention operation in the Ga-Rankuwa cluster at the weekend.
Cluster police spokesperson Captain Rheineth Motlana said the offenders were detained for a variety of crimes, including house breaking, theft and common assault.
“Suspects were also arrested for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, possession of suspected stolen cars, malicious damage to property, and trading liquor without a licence.”
Others were charged with possession of dagga, contravention of protection orders and shoplifting.
Five others were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and suspected stolen property, she said.
“They will all appear in court soon.”
