Police are still investigating a truck hijacking in Lotus Gardens last Thursday.

Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said the Pretoria West police were tracking down two men who hijacked the delivery truck.

“At 20:15, Rodney Masilo Ramaloka, was driving from his place of residence in Lotus Gardens with a female he had given a lift to when a blue Opel Corsa blocked his way,” he said.

“Two men came out from the vehicle and approached his truck. One was armed with a screwdriver.”

Msimango said the other man threatened to shot Ramaloka if he did not cooperate.

“One of the suspects then got into the truck, pushed Ramaloka over and started driving off.

The truck driver pleaded with the hijacker to let the woman out, to which the robber agreed but when the hijacker stopped to her her out, Ramaloka also escaped. The two ran to the Shoprite and asked the security guards to help them.”

Msimango said the police found the truck the following day after a tip-off from Lotus Gardens CPF chairperson identified only as Mr Tsietsi.

“No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing,” he said.
