Mabopane patrollers have embarked on a campaign to assist residents to defend themselves.

They recently distributed pamphlets to shoppers at Morula Shopping Centre in Mabopane, about crime prevention and how to defend oneself when faced with crime.

Police spokesperson Captain Rheineth Motlana said the police victim support centre also participated in the campaign.

“The event started at 8:00 when we distributed safety tips for housebreaking, theft out of motor vehicles, domestic violence, children’s rights and children’s safety. More than 200 pamphlets were handed out,” she said.

Motlana said there would be more awareness campaigns in the future around Ga-Rankuwa and Akasia.
