Pick n Pay warns of new phishing ‘scam’

Pick n Pay's Smart Shopper card holders were warned of the latest phishing scam.

Pick n Pay Smart Shopper card holders are warned of the latest phishing scam where an email is distributed stating they could qualify for a R700 grocery voucher.

To stand a chance to win, the email instructs customers to enter their Smart Shopper card number.

The Pick n Pay Smart Shopper system accumulates points with each purchase in order to receive discounts.

However, once the card number is entered, all points disappear.

Pick n Pay released a statement stating the retail giant communicates with customers through the Smart Shopper channel.

“Our advice is to never enter personal information on a website. Keep your personal information, PINS and financial details safe, secure and secret. You can always check with our customer care department on 0800 11 22 88.”
