Two Pakistani men were robbed at gunpoint in Soshanguve on Monday morning.
The two were walking past Elisabeth Matsimela Secondary School around 07:00 when they were confronted by four armed men.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said it was not known where the two were going when they were robbed.
“A brown VW Citi Golf appeared and stopped in front of them. There were four occupants in the car. Two men jumped out and tried to force them into the car,” said Mangena.
When the Pakistanis refused to enter the car, the other two jumped out and started searching the two men. They robbed them of two cellphones – Samsung Galaxy S4 and Nokia E63 – and a R2 000 in cash.
“One of the armed men held a gun against one of the men’s head, while others searched the other victim,” said Mangena.
Mangena said this was believed to be common robbery rather than a xenophobic attack.
“The robbery was not xenophobic in nature,” he said.
Mangena said police have launched a manhunt for the robbers.
