Dashing through the aisles

Journalists invited to trolley dash for SPCA.

Rekord and Maroela Media took part in a special trolley dash for the SPCA on Wednesday morning.

As special guests of Centurion Lifestyle Centre, two journalists, one from each media house, dashed through the aisles, ferociously grabbing some necessities the SPCA desperately needs.

The mad rush lasted for two minutes only though, as the dash was timed.

A grand total of R4 900 worth of stationery, leashes, cat litter boxes and food was collected.

Afterwards, all the food was placed in a large hollow metal Christmas tree in front of Checkers in the centre of the mall.

Mari-Lize Zwarts, marketing officer for Centurion Lifestyle Centre called on shoppers to donate dog and cat food to the SPCA and place it ‘in’ the Christmas tree over the holiday period.

All food will then be donated to the SPCA after the holiday period.

SPCA spokesperson Korky Levanon expressed her deep appreciation for the donations, as the SPCA needs not only food, but everyday items to keep the organisation running.
