Hundreds arrested in north of city

The police in Tshwane North arrested more than 300 suspects.

Police in the north of the city arrested  hundreds of suspects over the weekend for various offences.

Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi, police spokesperson for the Tshwane North cluster said in a statement that a total of 375 arrests were achieved.

“Our members in Ga-Rankuwa, Mabopane, Akasia, Soshange and Pretoria North were involved in a weekend operation,” he said.

Suspects were arrested for a variety of crimes.

“Suspects arrested included those sought for car hijackings, rape, armed robbery, attempted murder, road traffic offences, shoplifting, drunken driving and possession of dagga,” said Nkoadi.

“The suspects will appear in the Ga-Rankuwa, Soshanguve and Pretoria North magistrate’s courts soon,” he said.
