Be aware of hijackings at security complexes

Residents of security complexes should be alert of an increase in hijackings.

Rorisang Kgosana

Police and security company ADT have warned of an increase in hijackings and car theft from security complexes and estates.

This followed on an episode where a man was shot dead in view of his son when three armed men gained access to his security complex in Karen Park, Pretoria North last week.

“It seemed the robbers broke into the man’s home and shot him in front of his son. A vehicle appeared to have been stolen from the premises,” Amandasig action group (AAG) operations manager Erich Landsberg said.

ADT’s district manager for Pretoria region Leon Muller said a resident in the complex alerted ADT who responded.

Muller issued residents with tips on keeping safe in security complexes.
