A security firm pounced on three men in possession of car stealing equipment.

A security firm pounced on three would-be criminals attempting to steal a vehicle east of Pretoria on Tuesday afternoon.

Hi Risk security firm spokesperson, Arthur Crewe said around 13:00, one of their patrol vehicles spotted a suspicious vehicle parked near a Toyota Hilux.

“One of the occupants from the suspiciously parked vehicle was at the door of the Hilux,” said Crewe.

He said when the man saw the response vehicle they fled.

Crewe said their patrol vehicle chased them and called for back-up.

He said with the help of another one of their units, Rapid Response, they managed to block the vehicle in Waterkloof Road.

“The men were detained and handed over to Brooklyn police,” he said.

He said tools and equipment used in vehicle theft were found inside the men’s vehicle.

Crewe said they believed these men were responsible for a number of Toyota vehicle thefts.

Police were still to confirm the trios arrest at time of publishing.
