Centurion hijackers still at large
The hijackers fled after they shot a man in the arm last week.
Two armed Centurion hijackers are still at large with police chasing leads for their arrest after a man was shot during a hijacking last week.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Tumisang Moloto said the armed men were still on the run but police were chasing leads.
“No arrests have been made yet but we are continuing with investigations,” he told Rekord on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old hijack victim was on his way to deposit money at a shopping centre in Olievenhoutbosch last Monday morning when he was approached and stopped by two men.
“One pointed at him with a firearm and they shot him in the right arm. He was also severely assaulted and suffered head injuries,” Moloto said.
An undisclosed amount of money was taken and the hijackers fled with the man’s Nissan Almera.
“Police recovered some of the cash left at the scene and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital.”
Centurion motorists should also take note of several hijacking hotspots in their area.
