Four nabbed without identification face deportation

The men arrested without documentation during a police operation on Wednesday may be deported.

Four men arrested without documentation in a police raid on Wednesday, remain in custody awaiting identification, said police.

Spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller said the police arrested five men and four of them were awaiting identity verification by the home affairs.

“The men remain in police custody and if home affairs finds they are in the country illegally, deportation procedures will follow,” Miller said.

He said the fifth man, also charged with dealing in dagga, would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court soon.

Law enforcement officials raided several areas in Garsfontein on Wednesday, to increase police visibility and tackle drug-related crimes.
