Manhunt launched for Quagga centre robbers
Police are looking for two men who shot and wounded a man in Quagga centre. One is already behind bars after he was caught by residents.
Police have launched a manhunt for two robbers who shot and wounded a man at the Quagga centre last week.
Three men shot the man and robbed him of cash he had just withdrawn from an ATM last Wednesday.
On Monday, Atteridgeville police spokesperson Captain Thomas Mufamadi said one of the robbers was caught by residents later that afternoon.
“Members of the community chased the robbers and one was arrested.”
Mufamadi said a manhunt had been launched for the remaining two.
But a witness told Rekord she had seen four men get out of the Volkswagen Polo after it hit a pavement and burst a tyre.
“Three started running in the direction of Marabastad while another ran towards the CBD,” she said.
The driver of the vehicle, who was running towards the CBD, was then caught by men who were travelling in a bakkie.
On Wednesday, Best Care spokesperson Xander Loubser said paramedics found the wounded man in a serious condition with a bullet wound in the leg.
“The robbers took his car keys, wallet and R10 000 he had withdrawn from an ATM,” said Loubser.
