Murder case adjourned due to power failure
Several cases that were to be heard at the Moretele Magistrate's Court on Wednesday morning were adjourned due to a power failure.
A power failure caused the court case of a woman who allegedly killed her boyfriend in Hammanskraal to be adjourned in the Moretele Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday morning.
Police spokesperson Constable Herman Moremi said when the lights went out, a blanket of darkness descended on the courtroom, hindering the continuation of proceedings.
“The power failure occurred while the state prosecutor was about to give an account of what charges the woman and her accomplice, a 63-year-old man, were facing.”
The lights went out and the judge was compelled to adjourn. The court is still to decide on the next court date.
Moremi said several other cases that were scheduled for Wednesday were postponed due to power failure.
The 38-year-old woman and her accomplice were arrested at Carousel View in Hammanskraal on Tuesday for the stabbing of her boyfriend (39).
“It is believed the woman asked her neighbour to assist her to kill her boyfriend,” said Moremi.
Apparently a dispute between the woman and her boyfriend resulted in the victim allegedly being stabbed multiple times in the chest by the two suspects.
“Police rushed to the house and found the woman and her neighbour trying to clean up the blood and also to conceal evidence,” said Moremi.
