Police confiscate looted items
Police in high numbers targeted several parts of Mabopane in confiscating looted items.
Police confiscated looted furniture, appliances and clothing in Mabopane on Friday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Colonel Noxolo Kweza said several people were arrested on Friday as police confiscated looted items.
“We have strong reason to believe most of the looted items were from the furniture shops at the Central City Mall,” said Kweza.

The police operation came after government appealed to parents on Friday to stop their children from looting in Pretoria.
“We have received reports of children taking part in unlawful activities and appeal to parents that it is their obligation to ensure their children are protected and kept safe,” said Siphiwe Dlamini, of the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS).
Dlamini said police arrested more than 150 people around Pretoria throughout the week for crimes including public violence, burglary, theft, possession of unlicensed firearms and the possession of suspected stolen property.
