Hundreds of chickens stolen

Two men stole 315 chickens from a farm in Boschkop on Sunday.

Two men were arrested on Sunday morning over stock theft in Boschkop, Bronkhorstspruit.

Cullinan police spokesperson Constable Connie Moganedi said a tip-off was received around 09:00 that a truck was collecting chickens on a plot without the owner’s knowledge.

“On arrival, police found the truck loaded with 315 slaughtered chickens and the two suspects,” she explained.

The two men told police they intended on selling the stock to abattoirs.

“The chicken farm’s manager said he was unaware of the theft as they had a huge number of chickens,” said Moganedi.

“The manager thanked the police for their good work.”

The two culprits were aged between 20 and 30 years and would appear in the Bronkhorstspuit Magistrate’s Court soon, Moganedi said.
