Man arrested for attempted murder
Eighty-four people were arrested this weekend in Hercules; among them was a 32-year-old man who was arrested for attempted murder.
A 32-year-old man was arrested for attempted murder at the weekend.
Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said a man was found on Friday with two bullet wounds to his lower body in the Gomorrah informal settlement near Hercules.
“The shooting happened on Friday near the reservoir in Gomorrah informal settlement. Following a tip-off, police managed to find and arrest the 32-year-old suspect (on Saturday).”
“Investigations are ongoing and more information will follow,” he said.
During the weekend, Hercules police arrested 84 people for various crimes including attempted murder, possession of drugs, shoplifting and theft.
Msimango said a 30-year-old woman was arrested for stealing cheese at Bougainville Shoprite.
“A 52-year-old man was arrested for domestic assault,” he said.
“A 27-year-old man was arrested for battery theft after he allegedly removed the battery from a police truck parked at Hercules police station. The incident took place on Saturday around 10:40.”
Msimango said the 84 accused were expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
