Elderly woman robbed in driveway
“Four armed men driving a red mini cooper got out of their vehicle and ambushed the elderly woman.”
An elderly woman was robbed in a security complex driveway in Garsfontein, east of Pretoria, on Monday morning.
Garsfontein police spokesperson Warrant Officer Dave Miller said this happened as she was waiting in her car for the gate to her complex in Serene Street to open.
“Four armed men driving a red mini cooper got out of their vehicle and ambushed the woman.”
Miller said police suspected the four men followed the woman from a shopping complex.
“The men fled off with her valuables.”
He said the woman was unharmed.
An armed robbery docket was opened at the station.
Miller said motorists needed to be especially careful as robbers often followed motorists from shopping complexes.
“Everyone needs to be very vigilant. If you feel you are being followed – drive to the nearest police station.”
