NEWSFLASH: Two shot in Centurion hijacking
“The delivery truck and security car were ambushed by three vehicles as they were making a turn into Sunderland Ridge in Centurion.”
Two security officers were shot and wounded in a hijacking in Centurion on Thursday morning.
Wierdabrug police spokesperson Captain Agnes Huma said a cigarette delivery truck was ambushed on the R55 in Sunderland Ridge around 08:00.
Huma said the cigarette delivery truck was escorted by a security vehicle.
“The delivery truck and security car were ambushed by three vehicles as they were making a turn into Sunderland Ridge in Centurion.”
She said the three vehicles opened fire after blocking the way for the truck and security vehicle.
Two security officers in their vehicle were wounded and were taken to a nearby hospital.

“The driver of the delivery vehicle was nowhere to be found, indicating that he may have been abducted by the hijackers,” Huma said.
Huma said police were still to confirm the number of men involved in the hijacking.
“We [police] can confirm there were three vehicles involved in the hijacking.”
Huma said the vehicles fled with the delivery truck.
OrangeFox security firm’s Marcé Bester confirmed security officers were shot and taken to a local hospital.
He said ER24, Monitor Net security, Emer-G-med, EMS and Copwatch all responded to the hijacking.
