Scores of looters caught

Police caught people with stolen groceries, furniture and electrical appliances.

Fifty people have been arrested in Soshanguve and Mabopane over looting during last week’s violent #TshwaneUnrest protests in Pretoria.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lt-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said stolen goods such as furniture, groceries and electrical appliances were found at their homes.

Police acted on tip-offs from residents which led to the arrests, he said.

A total of 29 people were caught in Mabopane and Loate and 21 in Soshanguve and Rietgat.
