Security guard shot dead in Mamelodi
Security guard found dead on the side of the road in Mamelodi.
A security guard was shot dead in Mamelodi East in the early hours of Thursday.
The ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene Mashiloane Road around 04:20 and found the man lying among tall grass on the side of the road.
ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said the man had a gunshot wound to the head.
“He had already succumbed to his injuries by the time the paramedics arrived and he was declared dead on the scene,” said Meiring.
Meiring said he and another security guard were apparently approached by a number of gunmen.
One of the guards managed fled to call for help while the first one was killed as he tried to defend himself. More details on exactly what happened were not immediately available, Meiring said.
