Four arrested in possession of tablets
Police arrested four suspects after a tip-off.
Four people have been arrested by the organised crime unit and Welbekend police on Wednesday for possession of antiretroviral tablets.
According to Tshwane East cluster police spokesperson Constable Connie Moganedi police arrested two women and two men in possession of numerous boxes of suspected antiretroviral tablets at a Caltex garage in Bapsfontein, Welbekend area.
“The members got a tip-off about the suspects who were on their way to deliver the tablets somewhere around Gauteng. They acted swiftly and managed to arrest four of them and seize the boxes containing the tablets,” said Moganedi.
During questioning the two men alleged the boxes had been supplied by the women who wanted the men to deliver the tablets to an unnamed address in Gauteng.
The four suspects were detained while facing charges of contravening the Medical Act 101 of 1965. They will appear in the Welbekend Magistrate’s Court soon.
Moganedi asked people to assist Gauteng police in fighting fraud, corruption and unethical behaviour or any other suspicious activities by phoning 08600 10 111.
