Fifteen arrested in moot policing operations
“Operations like this will continue in the Moot area and will concentrate on public areas.”
Fifteen men were arrested during Heritage Day celebrations on Saturday thanks to a police operation in the Moot.
Police targeted public areas such as Adcock park, Cooper park and Trim park.
Police spokesperson Captain Anton Breedt said: “Several public and liquor premises were visited to address offences such as drunkenness in public and drinking in public.”
He said 15 men, aged between 27 and 45, were arrested for various crimes relating to alcohol abuse in public areas and possession of illegal substances.
The men will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
He said those on minor criminal charges would be fined.
Police issued a stern warning to residents that Moot police would not tolerate anyone who did not obey the law like the prohibition of drinking alcohol in public places.
“Operations like this will continue in the Moot area and will concentrate on public areas,” said Breedt.
