Man arrest for possession of unlicensed firearm
The Silverton police arrested a man for armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
A man was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm in Mamelodi West recently.
The man held up another man before robbing him of his cellphone on Saturday in Nellmapius.
The complainant told the police that the man had taken his cellphone at gunpoint.
Silverton police spokesperson, Captain Jan Sepato said the police were tipped off that the had been identified next Solomon Mahlangu Square in Mamelodi West.
“He was stopped and searched and the police found two firearms and two rounds of ammunition, one of the guns was a toy, ” said Sepato.
“He was also in possession of the cellphone.”
The 32-year-old is facing charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and armed robbery.
The police advised the public to report any crime or any suspicious person by calling 0860-10-111
The suspect will soon appear before the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
