Rapists and kidnapper nabbed
The father was also found guilty for hitting his daughter with an axe after she disclosed the incident to her mother.
Three men have been given harsh imprisonment sentences for rape and kidnapping on Monday by the Ga-Rankuwa Regional Court.
One father, aged 55 was dished with double life imprisonment after he was accused for raping his 13-year-old daughter in 2014 in Letlhabile while her mother was away from home.
The father was also found guilty and sentenced to eight years imprisonment for attempted murder for hitting his daughter with an ax after she disclosed the incident to her mother.
Meanwhile another rapist, Abel Lekwane, a 32-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment as he was accused of raping a 28-year-old woman last year.
“At the time of the incident, the victim was walking with her friend when the accused attacked them. The accused then caught and raped the victim. The incident was reported to the police in Letlhabile where a case was opened,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Pelonomi Makau.
The man was sentenced to six years for kidnapping.
Makau said both the men were declared unfit to possess firearms in terms of Section 103 of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act No. 60 of 2000).
A 47-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, after he was accused of kidnapping a 10-year-old girl in Bethani in 2016.
The North West Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane said the police will show no mercy to criminals.
