Stolen car tracked to Winterveldt
The police tracked the car to an open space in Winterveldt.
A car that was reportedly stolen in Soshanguve was found abandoned in Winterveldt a few hours later.
A Nissan 1400 bakkie was recently stolen and police tracked it to an open space in Winterveldt.
But while police said on Friday they were still investigating, the owner of the car, has questioned why there have been no arrests.
The owner phoned Rekord on Friday saying he had been informed that his car was not the first to be found abandoned at the same open space.
“My car was taken by armed men while it was parked in my backyard in Soshanguve. Two gunmen took it. I had the tracking system activated and the car was later found by the SAPS anti-hijacking unit,” he said.
“I was told that my car was not the first stolen car to be found at this open space. Surely the police should have made some progress if they are aware of this one place where all stolen cars are dumped at,” he said.
Police said they were linking the recent spate of hijackings and car thefts in Winterveldt to professional syndicates.
