Man arrested for arson
The man went to the woman’s house in New Eersterus, and set the shack on fire.
A woman’s shack was set alight in Hammanskraal on Monday morning.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Sarah Lesabane said a man (26) went to the dwelling in block F4 in New Eersterus around 04:00 and set it on fire.
The reason for the attack was not immediately clear.
“Everything inside the shack was reduced to ash but fortunately no one was inside,” she said.
Lesabane said according to the complainant she was sleeping when a family member woke her to tell her of the fire.
The man handed himself in when he heard police were looking for him.
“He will be charged with a case of arson and malicious damage to property,” she said.
The man is expected to appear in the Moretele Magistrate’s Court soon.
