Man breaks into house to take a nap
When they managed to wake him up, he responded by kicking at the police officials.
An inebriated would-be burglar fell asleep in his victim’s bed in the north of Pretoria on Monday night.
“Who breaks in to take a nap?” posted the owner of the house in Montana, Deon Roos, on social media.
“Probably one of the more weird things that has happened in my life…”
He said he discovered the intruder when he arrived home.
“We go out for dinner, come home and the gate is ripped out of the wall, first thing i think is Cheers Macbook & All my music gear… get to my room and the burglar is passed out on my bed, right next to where i left my Macbook…”
Roos said he tried to wake the man, but to no avail.
“He just wanted to sleep.”
Sinoville police were alerted and were within minutes on the scene.
“The police-officials struggled to wake the seemingly inebriated man who had passed out on the bed,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk.
“After a while they managed to wake him up and he responded by kicking at the police officials. They used pepper spray to subdue him.”
Van Dyk said the 54-year-old intruder was arrested and would appear in court soon.
“He’s facing a charge of housebreaking with the intent unknown to the prosecutor.”
