Rally Champion’s murder investigation still unsolved
Still no new leads after Hettema's murder in June.
No new leads are the reason why rally champion Jan Hettema’s murder investigation remains unsolved.
The 83-year-old was gunned down at his small holding in Boschkop east of Pretoria in June.
Boschkop police spokesperson Captain Marissa van der Merwe said investigations were ongoing, although no new information regarding the murder had been found.

Hettema, a five-time South African rally champion was shot dead by two armed robbers.
Hettema’s wife Elsa and a worker were overpowered and tied up during the attack.
Both survived the attack.

The robbers were reported to have overpowered Hettema, his wife and labourer before they ransacked the house.
The attackers fled with jewellery, cellphones and a laptop.
Hettema was declared dead on the scene and was reported to have been shot once in the face.
