Man set alight during robbery

A business owner burned to death in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

A Pakistani national was set alight during a robbery at his shop in Gomorrah, Hercules on Tuesday morning.

Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango said four men entered Gomorrah mini market around 02:50.

Msimango said the men beat up the owner as well as a Somali national.

“The owner was set alight by the robbers,” said Msimango.

Msimango said the men got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The shop burned down completely.

Msimango said the other victim managed to escape and is recovering in Kalafong hospital.

He said police were investing a case of murder, attempted murder and business robbery.

No arrests have been made, he said.

“Police and residents are searching for the four suspects.”
