Residents demand answers in Hercules murder

Gomorrah residents protested outside the Hercules police station on Tuesday demanding that the men who set a Pakistani business owner alight, be arrested.

Angry Hercules residents gathered outside the police station on Tuesday following the murder of a Pakistani business owner.

The man was set alight during a robbery at his shop in Gomorrah at 02:50.

A Somali national was injured during the attack, but managed to escape.

Police said he was recovering in Kalafong hospital.

According to reports, Gomorrah residents protested outside the Hercules police station demanding that the culprits be arrested and threatening to burn down the station.

Police spokesperson Captain Bonginkosi Msimango however, rubbished the claims of violence.

“Residents are demanding the suspects involved in the murder be arrested,” he said.

“They have marched peacefully to the station but they are working with police to ensure the perpetrators are caught.”
