Police still searching for murderer

Casper Venter was found dead in his own home.

The police are still searching for a suspect who shot a man in his home earlier this month.

According to Moot police spokesperson, Captain Anton Breedt, the body of Casper Venter (51) was found in the lounge of his home on 8 December.

The motive behind the shooting is still not clear, said Breedt.

Kilnerpark Security spokesperson Ancelize van der Kooi told Rekord they received an emergency call from the victim’s neighbour around 02:27 on theday.

“When our security officers got to the scene, on Beyers Street, neighbours told them their neighbour, Venter, had been shot,” said Van der Kooi.

Life Med spokesperson Renata Erasmus said: “Upon arrival, our paramedics found a middle-aged man had sustained a single gunshot wound.”

Breedt said Venter was declared dead on the scene.

A family friend, who wanted to remain anonymous told Rekord Venter owned a clutch and brake workshop in the Moot.
