Man arrested for reckless driving

According to the driver, he was speeding to save his pregnant wife.

A 26-year old man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he was caught driving 221 km/h on the N4-highway, just outside of Pretoria.

Gauteng traffic police spokesperson Busaphi Nxumalo said an Audi RS3 was pulled over for speeding near Bronkhorstspruit on Wednesday morning.

This happened around 13:00, Nxumalo said.

According to the driver, he was rushing on his way home to rescue his pregnant wife.

Nxumalo said: “This has yet to be confirmed.”

“The suspect is due to appear at the Pretoria magistrate court soon on charges of reckless driving.”

He will remain in police custody.
