Excellent results were achieved by Pretoria High School for Girls’ 2016 matric class.
“We had a 100 percent pass rate with 96,5 percent of learners achieving a Bachelor’s degree,” said spokesperson Joan Manders.
Manders said the school’s top learner was Janie Mouton, who achieved eight distinctions.
The distinctions were for English home language, Afrikaans first additional language, maths (for which she obtained 99 percent), physical sciences (for which she achieved 100 percent), life orientation, geography, life sciences and IEB advanced programme mathematics.
“Mouton’s average was 94 percent,” said Manders.
Tatiana Blecher came second, Ashleigh Wilhelm and Maryam Sanatkaran tied for third place, and Racheal Ngyende took fifth place.
“The outstanding results are largely due to the fact that our girls are given a comprehensive education,” said Manders.
“Emphasis is not only on academics however, as the girls are encouraged to participate and excel in the vast array of activities offered by the school, be they cultural, sporting or community-oriented.”
