Ribane Laka high school in Mamelodi East achieved a 99 percent pass rate in the 2016 matric exams.
The school obtained 85 distinctions.
The top three achievers were:
Tebatso Raselapi obtained seven distinctions.
She achieved 85 percent for Sepedi, 83 percent for English, 90 percent for maths, 87 percent for life orientation, 94 percent for geography, 96 percent for life sciences, and 93 percent for physical science.
“I am very happy with my results and I am planning to study medicine at the University of Pretoria,” said Raselapi.
Evans Leshega was second with six distinctions.
Leshega said he was going to study engineering at the University of Pretoria.
He achieved 80 percent for Sepedi, 78 percent for English, 88 percent for maths, 90 percent for life sciences, and 99 percent for accounting.
“It is hard work and sleepless nights that made me achieve these results,” said Leshega.
Faith Ndou came third, obtaining five distinctions and will be studying accounting at Wits University.
She achieved 79 percent for Venda, 78 percent for English, 85 percent for life orientation, 89 percent for accounting, 81 percent for life sciences, and 83 percent for physical science.
Ndou thanked all the people who supported her, especially the teachers for the good work they did throughout the year.
