Some areas in the north of Pretoria may be without water on Tuesday, 24 October.
City of Tshwane said in a statement that the city’s utility services will shut-down the Roodeplaat water treatment plant in order to carry out urgent essential maintenance work inside the plant.
Two 500mm butterfly valves and a 500mm bulk water meter on the pumping main will be installed on the day.
City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo said it was anticipated that this scheduled work will lead to a water supply interruption in areas that are serviced by the Montana reservoir.
“The city has arranged to supply the residents in the affected areas with water from Rand Water source. Should the Rand Water supply be insufficient due to high consumption, roaming water tankers will be made available.

“It is estimated that the scheduled work will take two days to complete,” Mashigo said.
Affected areas are:
– Montana
– Doornpoort
– Magalieskruin
– Sinoville
– Wonderboom-Suid
– Pretoria North
– Christianville
– Annlin
Mashigo said once water supply was restored, residents should use water sparingly to ensure that the reservoir retains its full capacity.
