TshiVenda school in Mamelodi bursting at the seams
Mveledzo primary school in Mamelodi desperately need mobile classes to accommodate the growing of the learners at the school.
The only school teaching in tshiVenda in Mamelodi is over-crowded. Long queues could be seen outside the school with parents anxiously waiting to register their children on Wednesday.
School principal Elizabeth Lebese confirmed that Mveledzo Primary School was overcrowded but more parents were bringing their children.
“We can’t turn away the children because this is the only Venda teaching primary school.
“If parents took their children to other schools in Mamelodi they will lose their culture and will never know their roots because of the language issue,” said Lebese.

The school accommodates tshiVenda-speaking children from as far as Nellmapius and the far east of Mamelodi.
Lebese said she did not have a problem with the intake of tshiVenda-speaking learners, but pleaded with anyone, especially businesses, to assist the school with mobile classes to accommodate all the learners.
Lebese said while addressing the registration problem, teachers were already in class proceeding with lessons.
