Young coach from Mabopane dreams big
“I learn a lot, tactically and technically, from watching other teams.”
A young local coach is harbouring a big dream…coach Bafana Bafana one good day.
Nkosinathi Mahlangu said coaching was in his blood and nothing would please him more than the opportunity to realise his dream to coach the national team one day.
“I think any football coach would love to manage their national team one day.
“When you aspire to become a coach that has to be on your wish list,” said the outstanding young coach.
Speaking to Rekord this week, Mahlangu said football was his life.
“I live and dream football,” he said.
If we do not have a game, I am glued to the television screen watching the beautiful game.
Sometimes if I have to miss the game I will catch repeats the next day.”
He said he analysed the games he watched to improve his tactical knowledge.

“I learn a lot from the other teams, tactically and technically,” he said before going into an analysis of the national team.
“I think there is enough talent in the country. The coaches who are given the job do select the best players. The problem is they do not know how to utilise or how to pair those players.”
He said the technical team had to analyse the strength and weakness of each player to determine how to best use them.
While he dreams of coaching in the Premier Soccer League before en route to Bafana Bafana, Mahlangu said he would like to get to the top league with his current team Odi Stars.
“Winning the league with Stars is my main ambition for now. We want to win the league, we want to qualify for the promotion play-offs,” he said.
Stars currently sit second in the table, still with a chance to win the league should leaders Maa Waa slip up.
“I’m very proud of the work I have done for the team. Even our juniors are doing well in their respective divisions,” he said.
The Stars consists of u/11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 squads.
On Sunday, the senior team played to a 2-2 draw against Sosh Invaders.
“There is a good understanding between myself and the players. They enjoy my methods, and they understand my tactics and what I want them to do on the field,” he said.
