Cell network team gears up for soccer tournament
The team will play in the Samsung tournament on the rooftop of Menlyn Mall.
Cell Network team sponsored by MTN launched their five A-side soccer team in Centurion on Tuesday.
The Samsung tournament, which kicks off on Thursday, will be played on the Roof Top of Menlyn Mall.
Five soccer teams from Pretoria will take part in the tournament.
Cell Network team from Centurion are current champions.
Captain of the team Jerry Shakwane said the team had prepared well ahead of the upcoming championships.
“We are getting stronger by each game and we want to be competitive and win every game.”
“It’s tournaments like this that get us motivated. Although the Samsung tournament allows us to use five players on the field at once, every one of us gets a chance to kick the ball,” he said.
Shakwane urged more people to get involved in sports.
“For us, it’s a lifestyle. After work, I get together with the boys and do what we love which is playing soccer. In a way, we are promoting a good lifestyle and also building stronger relationships which is essential in a team sport.”
