SPORTS: Andile Jali signs with Downs

The 28-year-old spent four years playing in Belgium.

Former Orlando Pirates and current Bafana Bafana midfielder Andile Jali has signed for Mamelodi Sundowns.

The club announced last week that the 28-year-old signed a five-year contract.

Downs had to beat strong competition from Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs to land Jali.

He will now join the strong midfield, which consists of Hlompho Kekana, Oupa Manyisa and Tiyani Mabunda.

According to the club’s website, the midfielder said he was delighted the deal was finally through.

“I feel good to have signed for Mamelodi Sundowns,” he said.

“At last this deal is done; it’s been dragging for a long time. Now I can relax before the season starts. I have recovered from the injury, I am good to go. I passed the medicals. Now I am ready for Sundowns to tell me when to come to training.”

Jali spent four years in Belgium with KV Oostende before returning to South Africa.

“I did not come back to relax and just say that I am done because I am coming from Europe. I came to South Africa to win things, not to just relax and say that I am done. That is why I came to Sundowns. I am here to show that I have that thing, to push other players to say that guys you can do it.”
